We’ve always complained how our batteries don’t last as long as they ought to. Or that it has effects on memory. But have we ever taken the time to find out how to use and take care of the batteries?
Ever wonder how to handle your D600 battery? Here are a few tips for you:
A new D600 battery usually comes in either a discharged or very low charge condition. So you have to charge it first before using. Batteries are protected from overheating but you should charge it at room temperature as they get warm during charging. This is normal, though.
Bear in mind to charge it a few hours before using it. When taken off the charger, batteries lose a percentage of their charge every day.
During initial charging, your battery will indicate that it has been charged completely even if it has only been plugged in for 10-15 minutes. This too is normal. Just remove the battery pack, let it cool for about 15 minutes, reinsert it, and repeat the charging procedure.
To have your battery perform at full capacity, you might want to charge and discharge (cycled) it 3-5 times initially and repeat it once a month. Li-on batteries do not require conditioning though.
Always charge the batteries only with compatible rechargers. Choose the ones that are well made and has good reviews. And never leave your batteries on charge for extended periods.
If you want a longer run time from your battery, choose something with a higher Mill ampere (mAh). One thousand Mill equal one Ampere. Watt-Hours is a simple rating used for the batteries. Just multiply the Volts by the Ampere. The result is the Watt-Hours which means the power needed to supply one watt. To compute run time, simply divide the Watt-hours by the watts that your laptop runs at.
When purchasing a new battery, always choose ones that are freshly manufactured. Old stock means that it has been stored for a long period of time. The capacity of the battery may have already deteriorated by then. You can clean your battery with a swab of cotton and alcohol. But be sure to let it dry first before using it.
Exercise your battery. Never leave it unused for very long periods. Use it at least once every 2-3 weeks. Store the batteries in a clean, cool, and dry place. And lastly, never use your D600 battery inappropriately. Abuse will always affect performance, even that of batteries. Our D600 battery will run at full capacity if we take good care of them. So don’t forget these simple but helpful tips. Also, remember that you need proper battery for your best laptop brand as well.
